Android : Making a Music App which plays the same playlist simultaneously on multiple devices

For an event at Stanford, I need to create an app which plays a common music playlist on multiple devices simultaneously. The way I am thinking of it now is a iPhone/ Android app which accesses the music playlist from the person's music library. The challenge is how to start the playlist for all the devices at the same time so everybody is listening to a same song section at a time.

Since I am a beginner developer, Is there a way/ API which I can use to play the same song for all the users who have this app open? Thanks in advance,
