Android : Change cursor Color of the EditText below API level 12

I'm using minimum API level 11. My edit text background is set to white. And its cursor color is also white. 1. First of all I'm not able to understand why it's color is white. 2. Secondly, I cannot use textCursorDrawable(), since it requires minimum API level 12.

Is there way to change the cursor color for API levels below 11. Also Can anyone tell me the reason why the cursor color is white?
