Android : Make the Nexus behave like an NFC reader

I am creating a desktop application which will read and write NFC tags. I need an NFC reader and writer for it. I want to know whether I can make my Google Nexus 7 tablet behave like a writer and reader when I connect it to my laptop. If yes, then how? I want the Nexus to communicate with my desktop application.
