Android : Add indicator to active tab in PagerTabStrip

I want to add a custom indicator that indicates which is the active tab in a PagerTabStrip. I've searched the internet but I cannot find any example on how can I implement such a thing, without using a library.

As i see I can only change the highlight color but I cannot add a share or a resource instead.
