Android : Relative to view which is center_vertical?

I am getting strange behavior in setting a View1 relative to a View2 which has been set center_vertical.

Suppose I have set center_vertical=true for View2 now I want View1 to go below View2 in same parent layout..its not setting as it should. It sets itself as if no condition has been set to it..goes to origin. What am I missing?
