Android : is it possible to change the status bar alpha in translucent mode?

I use the following style to get (somewhat) transparent status/navigation bars:

    <item name="android:windowTranslucentStatus">true</item>
    <item name="android:windowTranslucentNavigation">true</item>

The status bar is not "transparent enough" though and causes a visual impact on the top of my View. Is it possible to increase the transparency of the status bar?
