Android : Mobile background process in Cordova stops working on Sony XPeria

I'm using this plugin to code a background geolocation process on a Sony Experia Android device. However, when I load the application and I either leave it to go to sleep or purposefully turn off the phone (not completely of course), when I turn it on, the application is playing on the background, but I get the message "Anfortunately , AppName has stoped working". I can replicate the error, but cannot debug on the system since for whatever reason, my awefule Sony phone does not provide the information, even in developer mode. Any ideas how I can test this?
