Android : Getting started in Android development

on Thursday, July 10, 2014

I'm particularly new in Android development and would like to grasp some basics in making application. I have tried Android Developer Training but so far I can't really understand due to the nature they instruct to copy the code without really explaining what's going on behind the scene. I found the "for Dummies" book, Android Application Development For Dummies, 2nd Edition and thinking of picking this book up as starting point. Is this book good? Also I wonder if 2 years old book still relevant in terms of IDE or code itself.

A bit of background, I have college-level Java and C++ basics and not really program real-life application yet. I don't really want it to rust so I guess I'll pick up Android development to practice.
